Hi Ladies! Don't forget to bring your items for the April and May donation drives! (Canned/non-perishable food for seniors, and art supplies/snacks for KIDS Center). And just a reminder...we don't expect you to "break the bank." $5 or less is perfectly appropriate. If you want to give more, tap your friends, family and neighbors.

March Meeting: Bend Martini Bar

What a blast! We opted for "shaken, not stirred" at our March meeting and moved our meeting from our typical Starbucks location to the Bend Martini bar. And had our biggest turn-out yet! Here's the gist of what we discussed:

April's donation drive is canned and non-perishable foods to donate to the Bend Senior Center's pantry for seniors in need. Take the whole month, ladies, to collect food and bring it to the April meeting.

May's donation drive is art supplies and snacks for KIDS Center. Think playdoh, washable Crayola markers (the smaller "pipsqueaks" are perfect), crayons, coloring books. And snacks need to be non-perishable, like granola bars, dried fruit bars, etc. Check out the very kind letter KIDS Center sent us for last year's donation (March 2009 post).

Our annual Hollygrape Park Clean-up happens Saturday, April 17 from 9 to 11 am. Bend Parks and Rec is providing everything we need to spruce up the park. This is a family-friendly volunteer event (one of several we plan during the year to get the kids involved and work side by side). So bring your kids (but no "drop-offs" please...everyone is responsible for their own offspring)!

The March of Dimes walk is April 24 at 9 am (our group will meet at the Old Mill at 8:45).

Lastly, we're planning on doing a dinosaur dig for the Children's Festival in July to benefit Saving Grace. Landsystems is graciously donating sand. Everyone save their Easter eggs!

Dec 09: Christmas Gifts for Needy Kids

Meeting: Wednesday, December 2, 6:30 pm, Starbucks (27th Street in Bend)

It's time to play Santa! (Shopping ideas will be handed out in mid-November.) We'll be using proceeds from our September Charity Rummage Sale to buy presents for needy kids in our community. Bring your wrapped presents to the December monthly meeting.

Nov 09: Diaper Drive for Grandma's House

Bring diapers to our monthly meeting—we'll gather and donate to Grandma's house, a shelter for teenage mothers.

Oct 09: Food Drive for Seniors

Meeting: Wednesday, October 7, 6:30 pm, Starbucks (27th Street in Bend)

Bring cans of food and boxes of non-perishable items like pasta, rice, etc. to our monthly meeting. The food we gather will stock the pantry at the Bend Senior Center—low-income seniors can take what they need.

Sep 09: Fall Kick-Off Meeting, Rummage Sale

Hope you've enjoyed the summer break. It's time to gear back up for fall and prepare for our next service project: our Charity Rummage Sale. We'll be holding our sale on the Arts Central Station lawn in the Old Mill District on Sept. 19 from 9 am to 1 pm. All proceeds benefit needy kids in our community.

We have flyers to spread around town and email to friends. Email us if you'd like a pdf of the flyer.

May 09: Ronald McDonald House

Meeting: Wednesday, May 6, 6:30 pm, Starbucks (27th Street in Bend)

Bring a few dollars to donate towards landscaping flowers for Ronald McDonald House. We'll beautify their grounds on Saturday, May 30 at 9 am. Bring any perennial starts from your yard/garden if you have them!

April 09: March of Dimes, Park Clean-up

We'll be gathering pledges for the March of Dimes walk on April 25. The 5k walk starts at 9 am in the Old Mill District. Ladies, wear your t-shirts! Don't have one? Email us.

Our Annual Park Clean-Up happens Saturday, April 11. We're tackling Hollygrape Park again this year. Meet at the park with kids, spouses, relatives and friends. Bend Parks and Rec will provide all the rakes and trash cans. Let's hope for warm weather!

Dear Moms on a Mission,

Thank you. Such simple words, but we say them to you with the greatest sincerity. With your recent donation of snacks and therapy craft supplies, you have helped KIDS Center to provide important services of healing to the abused children we see on a daily basis.

Numbers are growing, with an increase of 42% more children seen in 2008 than in 2007. This is difficult work, and we are struggling in this economy with our rising caseload. But you, and others like you, are providing us with a ray of hope with your commitment to making sure these children are seen, are heard, are evaluated, and are helped to heal from this tragedy. We anticipate providing our services to over 700 children in 2009, at no cost to child or family.

Please call us for a tour, so that we may show you first hand how you are helping these children.

March 09: VIM Bottledrive

Bring your bottles and cans to tonite's meeting, or email to arrange pick-up from your house. We're taking the proceeds from bottle returns and donating all to Volunteers in Medicine.

We'll also be discussing future drives and projects, plus plans for summer.
